The Small Fry Committee allows students that are at least 11 years old or that are in the 6th Grade to be more involved with The Friends of Conroe thru participation in the volunteer activities leading up to and during Annual Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival and Annual Thanksgiving Feast With Friends as well as the many yearly Parades. The purpose of the Small Fry Committee is to provide young adults with the opportunity to develop leadership skills as well as perform a service for their community and be aware of the business operations of The Friends of Conroe, Inc.

Who Are The Friends of Conroe?
A non-profit community-oriented organization, committed to the enhancement of the quality of life in Conroe and Montgomery County through civic and cultural improvements.

What Does The Friends of Conroe Do?

Sponsor and produce the Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival each October drawing some 30,000 visitors to the downtown Conroe area which makes a significant economic impact on the entire community.
Sponsor and Operate the Annual Thanksgiving Feast with Friends, which provides over 3,000 meals annually in our community for those in need.
Provide scholarship opportunities to all Montgomery County students.
Founding Sponsor and supporter of the Lone Star Convention Center.
Promote the downtown square area by purchasing light, benches, and water fountains.
Support many local charitable organizations, including Montgomery County Food Bank, Salvation Army and Emergency Assistance.
Sponsor and produce The Friends of Conroe Music Series bringing local and national attention to the downtown area and the Historic Crighton Theatre.
Supporting member of the Greater Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce Capital Building Fund and other projects.

What Will The Small Fry Committee Do?
Volunteer at:

City of Conroe Kidz Fest in The Friends of Conroe Village
Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival through numerous aspects. They will learn teamwork and all aspects of a successful festival.
The Friends of Conroe Feast With Friends annual Thanksgiving Event. Assisting with preparing and serving meals for over 3,000 for those in need in our community.
Other Friends of Conroe events throughout the year

Volunteer hours will be tracked and a certificate will be supplied at end of year.

Volunteering is a great way for scholars to highlight their experience and skills on a resume or a college application. Having volunteering experience can potentially increase their chances of landing a great job or being accepted into their dream college.
